With a background in nursing and child development, in addition to a passion for design, our team brings a unique blend of expertise to create playrooms that are safe, functional, and stylish.
We believe that every child deserves a space tailored to their unique needs and interests, fostering a love for learning while providing parents peace of mind.

Prior to PBD, I worked as a registered nurse for over 12 years. From labor and delivery to critical care, I have taken care of people in all stages of life and have learned just how much environment impacts child development. As a healthcare professional and mother of two energetic young boys, I’ve experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to balance a demanding career with creating meaningful experiences for our children.
After a long week at work, I struggled to really connect with my children. I was tapped out and constantly felt the pressure of being a Pinterest mom with endless activities on standby to help my children succeed in the world. Thats when I decided to turn my cluttered, chaos filled playroom into a productive space that served my family. Fast forward several months and Playroom by Design was born!
Playrooms by Design was created to help ease the stress of everyday life while giving our children (and ourselves) a fun and engaging space to learn and grow through play. We believe a thoughtfully designed play space will not only support your child’s development but also give busy parents like you the freedom to enjoy quality time with your children without the pressure of constantly managing their play experience.

After receiving my Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2016, I’ve worked in a wide variety of patient care settings, most notably the NICU and as a camp nurse for children with disabilities.
Motivated by my passion for finding creative solutions to meet every tiny humans unique needs and practical application of child development, I co-founded PBD with my sister. While permanently based in the Asheville area, in 2023 I relocated to Munich, Germany with my husband and young family. Raising my daughter internationally has transformed my own approach to play and greatly influences our design principles here at Playrooms by Design.
I have been inspired by the way German families promote independent play, allow for safe risk taking, provide challenging environments and integrate children into society. I founded Playrooms by Design to reimagine how play spaces can serve both children's developmental needs and family dynamics, drawing from my unique perspective of both American and German parenting cultures.

Storage solutions promote executive function and independence; play surfaces are ergonomically positioned for proper motor development; and materials are selected for both sensory benefits and cognitive stimulation.
